Editorial Policy

Students rely on what they read here for homework and exams, so accuracy comes first. This page explains how articles on Study Discover are researched, written, checked and corrected.

What we cover

We write about the subjects students meet in middle school, high school and early college: science, mathematics, history, geography, technology and study skills. Topics come from the questions students actually ask.

Sources

  • We prefer primary and authoritative sources: textbooks, government and university websites, museums, scientific organizations and peer-reviewed research.
  • Facts that are surprising, disputed or likely to change are checked against at least two independent sources.
  • Where it helps readers go further, we link to the sources we used.

Writing and review

Articles are written in plain English for a student reader. Before publishing, each article is reviewed for factual accuracy, clarity and age-appropriate language. We may use software tools to help with research, drafting or proofreading, but a person reviews and is responsible for every article we publish.

Tools

Each tool’s formulas are documented on its page. We test tools against worked examples before release and after every change.

Updates and corrections

We review articles regularly and update them when information changes. If we find or are told about an error, we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted at the end of the article with the date.

Independence

We do not accept payment to cover a topic or to change what an article says. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled.
